Massage and Music...
a great combination that brings more life into one's life. Soothing, pleasing, nurturing, healing, they touch the spirit, the body and the mind in such a positive way. The effects are far reaching.
Massage relaxes the mind and can reduce depression. It increases blood circulation, which makes everything run better, smoother, and easier. Massage is such a beautiful way to express caring and so healthy for anyone whether they are 8 or 88.
Massage can provide relief from muscle pain, swelling, joint stiffness, neck and shoulder problems. It can improve arthritic conditions, peripheral vascular disease, stroke recovery and Parkinson's disease.
Sometimes elderly people have not been touched gently enough in their lives and are guarded or apprehensive about massage. People with dementia and Alzheimer's can find it difficult to trust or relax. Music, singing in particular, can soothe. Music is its own language and singing to someone can be just the right thing to introduce a shoulder, foot or hand massage. Often times a client will remember the song being sung and will join in. Soon they are smiling, toe tapping, hand clapping or dancing.
